Wapella is a town on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1), northwest of Moosomin. It also sits on Highway 601.
Part of its early story is tied to Jewish homesteading. From 1889 to 1906, a farm colony operated at Wapella, and Edel Brotman, a homesteader and rabbi, was part of that community. His grandson, Cyril Edel Leonoff, is among the people connected to the town.
Wapella is also known for its hockey players. Brett Clark went on to play in the NHL, and Bud Holloway also played professionally.
